Palletways rises to the challenge to deliver a world record
Earlier this month Palletways – our pallet distribution partner – announced their involvement in a successful world record attempt which has been officially recognised by Guinness World Records.
Back in April a group of 49 hot air balloons successfully crossed the English Channel between Dover and Calais – the largest number to do so.
This group of hot air balloons was both led and sponsored by Palletways.
The Palletways’ balloon was hard to miss. Measuring 61ft tall it was shaped like a smoke-breathing dragon. What’s more the dragon balloon was the only shaped balloon to participate as well as being the first hot air balloon in the UK to have a glass bottomed basket (I hope the passengers weren’t afraid of heights!)
Amongst the dragon passengers was Andy Turner, the Managing Director of Palletways Owned Operations. He said:
“We are absolutely delighted to receive this official recognition from Guinness World Records. The fact that we broke the World Record meant all the efforts of those involved were worthwhile.”
Event organizer and balloon pilot Ian Sharpe said:
“Flying across the Channel in a hot air balloon is a very special experience and the fact that we ended up breaking the world record has made the flight that extra bit special.”
Well done Palletways for this fantastic achievement and for being a record breaker!
