Yodel becomes sole delivery partner for Pet Supermarket.co.uk

September 10, 2011

The collectmyparcel.com blog is a great place to stay on top of news relating to our courier partners.

This week Yodel announced it has secured a new contract. The UK’s number one on-line pet store Pet Supermarket.co.uk has chosen Yodel as its sole delivery partner, a job previously carried out by Parcelforce Worldwide.

This means from 12th September 2011 if you order pet supplies or pet food from Pet Supermarket.co.uk it will be delivered by Yodel. In fact Yodel will be responsible for approximately 250,000 deliveries of pet food and other supplies each year.

Pet Supermarket.co.uk’s managing director, Mark Berriman said:

“We offer our customers a five point guarantee, which includes ‘delivery when it suits you’. Yodel’s services help us to fulfil that promise and from 12 September customers will be able to choose from a variety of Yodel’s options including 24, 48 and 74 hour delivery – which can be essential when buying medication for your pet.”

Yodel’s Sales Director Jerry Kane said:

“Like Pet Supermarket.co.uk, Yodel also holds the customer at the heart of its business. With the continued move towards on-line retailing, the way we shop and do business has changed and consumers need a delivery service which fits in with their busy and often unpredictable lifestyles. Our Neighbourhood and Business services provide Pet Supermarket.co.uk with cost effective, flexible, fully trackable delivery options that meet the needs of its fast growing business by putting the customer in control.”

How do I get a parcel delivery quote?

August 18, 2011

You may be surprised at the different ways you can get a parcel delivery quote these days.

Go direct.
The obvious choice is to go direct to the courier. You can phone, visit their website or even drop into a local depot. There is a stack of choice out there. You could pick a household name like Parcelforce Worldwide, City Link or Yodel – or opt for a more localised or smaller scale service. With so many companies to choose from, you’re bound to find a product and service that meets both your budget and delivery specification.

Try a professional booking agent.
Perhaps a more cost effective solution is to try a courier comparison site.
These websites work by providing quotes for a number of different services and couriers based on your parcel’s size, weight and destination. You can find them on-line by searching cheap parcel delivery. Even better these middlemen are cheaper than using a courier direct. They buy collections in bulk then pass some of their savings onto you. In fact Martin Lewis – the Money Saving Expert did an interesting post about such budget courier services around Christmas last year. You can find out what he thinks here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/cheap-parcel-delivery

Booking agents offer additional benefits.
As well as saving money many booking agents offer a very good after sales service. So if you have any problems with either your collection or delivery they will deal with the courier on your behalf. What a time saver!

What’s more; if you have an iPad, iPhone or iPod, collectmyparcel.com has a FREE App which lets you track your parcel on the go. You can get your hands on the app at this link: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/collectmyparcel-com/id425154071?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D4

So next time you need a quote for sending a parcel – try collectmyparcel.com. And if you leave a comment, we’ll know what you think.

Bought something on eBay?

June 13, 2010

So you’ve seen something on eBay and won it!  Congratulations!  Trouble is the seller put the item as “Collection only”.  Now what do you do?  Not to worry, with collectmyparcel.com you can arrange your own Parcel Delivery.  With our services you don’t have to be the one sending the parcel.  You can be the one wanting to receive the parcel.  Once you’ve spoken to the seller and they’ve packaged up the parcel and provided you with the weight and dimensions, you can then visit collectmyparcel.com, click on Quote & Book, enter the details and there you go, an instant quote!  Now all you have to do is enter the seller’s address as the collection address, your address as the parcel delivery address, pay and then sit back and track your parcel on-line until it’s delivered.
